What are the most-memorable caches in Amarillo or within about an hour drive or so?

They can be the cleverest container/hide, a must-see location, an interesting historical marker, or whatever.  Something you enjoyed or something that made you glad you're geocaching because you wouldn't have seen it otherwise.

Hmmm...no Amarillo cachers watch this board?

My current favorite in Amarillo is "Amadega Nights # 12 “The Ballad of Captain Sammy”" (GC14ANA).  The reason it's my favorite is partly because it's the only one I've done in Amarillo, but also because of the cache container.  I hope I won't spoil anything for anyone by saying it's a race car, well hidden.

Nudging another topic out of retirement...

I was not overly impressed with any of the in-town caches in Amarillo.  That's probably not because there aren't great ones, just that I didn't find many, and none that stuck out in my memory.  For that, you have to go a little less than an hour, to Palo Duro Canyon.  There, you have Fissure of Fear, which I loved even though I DNFed it, and Lost Canyon Cache.  But the best one I did, predictably, is the only Terracache in the area, Hole in the Ground.  It's a little PNG only about half a mile from the park road that only took us about 4 hours to complete.  And the scenery is breathtaking.

Matter of fact, there's a little event there this weekend, if you're in the mood to try some.

Im going to Colorado Springs this summer and am taking a long round trip to get there. I plan on going up to Kansas and getting some caches in Amarillo on the way up there in which I hope to find a memorable cache.  PNG , Skirt Lifters, Less then and hour for me to find 1/1 to 5/5 I like them all. But the one I love are the most challaning ones to get. that will hit 3/3 on up.
