Ahem.  Cough. cough.  Is this mike on?  Can any Lubbockites hear me?

Oh, good.  So you live in the Lubbock area and you are tired of PNGs and lamppost micros and obvious hides on the Caprock.  Well, there are some really good geocaches here, but you have to look for them. Also, there are three terracaches within an hour's drive that are guaranteed to be more of a challenge (and more of a reward) than most any greenie.    If you want to check it out, go to http://www.terracaching.com.  For the neato geocaches, reply in this forum.

Cache with panaché,

Just returning from Colorado and staying in Santa Fe for a few days. We'll be in Lubbock day after tomorrow and may have time to pick up a few caches.  Grin Probably won't have time to do the Terra Caches this time. Sad

It's easy to be unimpressed by the terracaching site.  It's on a level with, say, MySpace, in terms of usability.  In other words, it's pretty rough.  The owner has been re-writing the site code, promising "TC 2.0" for what seems forever.

It's not the website that draws me, however.  It's the caches.  As I said in the OP, the longer, harder caches appeal to me, and I get a much higher percentage of them on TC.com.  I can put up with a slow, clunky website for that.  Of course, that style of cache won't appeal to everyone.

Real Thing, I see you went ahead and joined.  Great!  I doubt you'll find many TCs in your area, but if you ever do make it up to Lubbock, let me know.  If I'm in town, I'd be happy to accompany you on any of my TCs so you could get a feel for them.  That applies to anyone else in this forum, as well.

We have a new-to-the-Lubbock-area cacher that is placing some hides up north near the airport. You should go by and find them, and take a look at her containers, and especially her really well done logs. She's going to make me catch a whole new gear in the log department.

Would that be BarbiQ62's caches?  I'd been noticing them as they're published.  I haven't gotten up there to find any of them yet, but I've enjoyed some of the descriptions.

That would be her. We've been talking via email for the past couple of days. Nice lady. See said she was "making caches" today, since it was raining like crazy. I think she has seven or so out now. Probably expect more. The container at her first cache was just outstanding, and she an extra special touch with her logs.
