March 2013 Newsletter Well we missed a month sending out the newsletter, unfortunately February got extremely busy and I just ran out of time (It’s a short month afterall…) This monthly newsletter is to help keep geocachers across West Texas up to date with what is happening all over West Texas and in other parts of Texas. Texas Challenge XI (Mega-Event)
April 5 – 7, 2013 @ Robert Point Park, Port Aransas, Tx
For Eleven years the Texas Geocaching Association has been putting on the annual Texas Challenge Event. Last year this event went Mega, so it is automatically a mega event this year as well!

This coming weekend we are having a planning event in San Angelo (http://coord.info/GC46Z6Q) at 10:00 AM at Mommio’s house there. If you can’t make it to that one, there is of course the one in Midland (http://coord.info/GC4717V) the weekend before challenge. Even if your not attending challenge, feel free to show up and visit!

Are you a member of the Texas Geocaching Association?If not you should join! Besides what TXGA does for geocaching in the State working with Cities, State Parks, and others, they also host two annual events, the spring time event listed below and the new fall event “The Lone Star Roundup”.With a “Premium Membership” to TXGA you get that years membership geocoin and pathtag (image to the left), a membership card and a $10 discount on one order of pathtags from pathtags.com!

Texas Geocaching Association Elections
Each year, TXGA holds elections for the board of directors. For instance last year I was voted in as the West Texas Rep for TXGA. Each office holds a two year term, so I’ll be up for re-election in 2014.This year the following positions are up for re-election: TXGA President, Vice President, North Texas Rep, and East Texas Rep. There is also a vote going on for some changes to the Articles of Association. To be able to vote in the elections you must be a member of TXGA (follow the link in the section above). A personal note on this years election: There is only one real election happening, only the current President is running against someone else in this election. My personal opinion on this election is TeamDnD (David and De Vickery), the current president of TXGA, are doing a great job with this organization and I fully endorse them to continue on as the President and hope you will vote for them as well. |
World Wide Flash Mob X
| For some time now there have been “World Wide Flash Mob” geocaching events. There has been an event in Midland for the last two, both had great turnouts!
