Texas Challenge has come and gone, and a great time was had by all! This year’s challenge was in Port Aransas and the South Texas region did a fantastic job getting it all done. The location was perfect, and though I was afraid of the urban format it could not have turned out nicer. The caches the hide team hid were some of the best caches I’ve seen in a very long time. The interactive caches included making a shot from the free throw line, find the cork in the water with “punch” on it, and even fighting the black knight!

| The Saturday night beach bash went great, the girls handed out leis, some hot dogs were cooked. The Lackey from groundspeak that came down for the event had the idea to turn my shirt into the log book, so my Hawaiian shirt turned inside out and into the log book, which was a bit odd for me to have people sign me all day…Next year Challenge will be in Bastrop and going back to the March dates, I hope to see as big of a team as West Texas can manage!
The next “Big” TXGA event is the Lone Star Roundup in Tyler State Park on September 14, 2013. Go to TXGA.net for more information. |

World Wide Flash Mob X
| For some time now there have been “World Wide Flash Mob” geocaching events. There has been an event in Midland for the last two, both had great turnouts! This year there will be one near Midland International Airport (GC47M7N WWFM X Live Long and May the 4th be with you.), to keep it part way between Midland and Odessa. There is also a flash mob in Lubbock and Abilene, see the links above! To learn more about WWFM visit here: https://sites.google.com/site/wwfminfo/home
If you live to far away to join our flash mob, lets face it West Texas is huge! Host your own flash mob event in your town, if you need help with this feel free to contact me. The folks that came up with this idea run the PodCacher Podcast, which is a great show to listen to on those long caching trips, on walks, with working on other things, for fun, or I often do while mowing the grass… http://www.podcacher.com/ |
